Damn Good Sandwich

Cafe Habana is nothing short of a life force in Nolita. Their famous grilled corn draws daily crowds, filling up the sit-down restaurant and the take out cafe the next door over. Also a treat is their award-winning Cuban Sandwich, a delectable mix of fresh pork, ham, cheese, and pickle. But there is a humble little underdog on the menu —- a sandwich often overlooked by the Cafe’s bigger players. Its name: the Avocado & White Cheese. Pressed between two crusty pieces of white bread, red onion and black beans interplay with creamy avocado and generous slabs of white cheese. The result is a better-than-crack sandwich experience: complex yet subtle, comforting but refreshing, and every bit delicious.
